Benchmark Testing

Stress, performance, and resilience testing in controlled environments. Vendors publish the numbers that flatter them. A benchmark run in an isolated lab produces the numbers you asked for.

What it answers

The questions this work is for.

What are the real performance numbers?

Throughput, latency, and capacity measured under conditions you specify rather than conditions chosen by a marketing team.

Where does it fall over?

Load limits, degradation curves, and the failure modes that appear before them.

How does it recover?

Behaviour under failure, and what it takes to bring the product back.

Do their published figures hold?

Reproducing a vendor's own benchmark is often the most useful test in the set.

What you receive

Evidence, not assertion.

Documented results for every test in scope, with the environment specification and test conditions recorded alongside them so the run can be repeated or challenged.

How it runs

Inside your lab.

All OpenRival engagements begin with access to a private lab environment where your team can independently test rival products. Benchmark Testing is optional technical work performed by OpenRival engineers within that lab to generate documented, evidence-based findings. One product per lab, isolated from every other environment we operate.

Questions

About benchmark testing.

What is competitive benchmark testing?

Competitive benchmark testing measures a rival product's performance, capacity, and failure behaviour under controlled conditions in an isolated environment, using tests defined by the client rather than the vendor.

Why does the lab need to be isolated?

Shared infrastructure makes results unreliable and mixes vendors' software in one environment. Every OpenRival lab runs one product, isolated from every other environment we operate.

Can we specify the test conditions?

Yes. Most of the value in a benchmark comes from testing the conditions that matter to your buyers, which are rarely the ones a vendor publishes.
